A Snapshot of Me
The photo you see of me here is not what most would call a “professional” headshot. My hair is wild, and I’m standing alone on a trail in the wilds of Northern Ireland, waves crashing below, birds clinging to the cliffside, and me? I’m blissfully happy. That moment—feeling the wind whip around me, fully present in nature—is exactly who I am. I don’t need a polished, studio-perfect version of myself, and neither do you. Life is messy, beautiful, and meant to be fully experienced.

Hi, I’m Linda McVetty, the founder of Wild Sage Fitness—a place where women over 40 can rediscover strength, joy, and adventure on their own terms.
For most of my life, I could count on my body to bounce back after a fitness setback. Then menopause hit… and wow, did it hit hard. Suddenly, everything I thought I knew about staying fit and feeling strong didn’t seem to work anymore. When I looked for guidance, I found a lot of bad advice—quick fixes, outdated science, and messages that made women feel broken instead of empowered. That didn’t sit right with me.
So, I did what I always do when faced with a challenge—I experimented. I started treating my own body like a science experiment, testing different approaches to fitness, nutrition, and recovery. What actually worked? What was just fitness industry noise? I tried strength training, cardio variations, different ways of eating, mindfulness techniques—you name it. What I expected was true – that there is no one-size-fits-all answer, but there are science-backed principles that can help us work with our bodies instead of fighting against them.
That curiosity led me to earn my Menopause Coaching Certification from Girls Gone Strong (GGS), along with certifications as a Mind Body Eating Coach (Institute for the Psychology of Eating) and Forest Therapy Guide (ANFT). Now, I’m excited to start sharing what I’ve learned.
I know what it’s like to feel frustrated by the changes midlife brings, but I also know that strength, energy, and adventure are still very much on the table. I’m not here as someone who has it all figured out—I’m here as someone who’s in the trenches with you, exploring what works and what doesn’t, and building a better way forward.
A few fun facts about me:
🛶 I’m happiest outdoors—backpacking, hiking, skiing, or paddling my way through life.
📸 I’m diving into photography with my dream Sony A5IV (goodbye, blurry iPhone shots!).
🐶 I have two wonderful (and wildly different) dogs, Gwyneth and Bramble. One thinks every stranger is a best friend waiting to happen, while the other is convinced the world is very suspicious. They keep life interesting.
🍏 My all-time favorite snack? Apples and peanut butter (because granola is just too dangerous—I will eat the whole batch).
💡 I have ADHD, which means my brain works in creative, nonlinear ways—sometimes a challenge, but mostly a gift.
